Buttons
Buttons are how PFC Game Smarts tracks your progress. Every button represents a real skill — one you practised at home, got your parent to sign off on, and passed in front of your coach.
You can’t fake a button. You earn it.
Available Buttons
Section titled “Available Buttons”Complete the Ball Boss pathway — all five foundation skills. The first button. The one that starts everything.
Pass all drag back and turning skill tests. You can change direction under pressure.
Pass all passing & receiving skill tests. You make your teammates better.
Earn all three core buttons. The highest level. Reserved for players who put in the work.
How to Earn a Button
Section titled “How to Earn a Button”- Complete the skills in the relevant section — watch the videos, do the reps at home
- Get parent sign-off for each practice session
- Pass the skill test with your coach — see Skill Tests for what each test requires
- Your coach records the button — ask them about the process at your club
Button Levels
Section titled “Button Levels”Buttons are not participation trophies. They have clear standards:
| Level | What it means |
|---|---|
| Bronze | You understand the skill and can perform it slowly in practice |
| Silver | You can perform the skill at pace in a controlled environment |
| Gold | You’re doing it in games — your coach has seen it transfer |
Most skill test passes earn Silver. Gold is given by coach discretion when they see the skill used in a real game situation.
Your Socks
Section titled “Your Socks”When you complete a full pathway (like Ball Boss), you earn your Game Smarts socks. These are a physical symbol of the work you’ve done — not a participation gift.
See Socks → to learn more.
Tracking Your Progress
Section titled “Tracking Your Progress”Keep track of which buttons you’ve earned. Talk to your coach if you’re not sure which skills to test next. They’ll point you in the right direction.
