Outside Bent and Placed

The outside of the foot produces the opposite bend to an inside-foot shot. It’s harder to control — but once you can hit it, you can go to corners that most players can’t reach without changing their body shape.

This is Shooting Drill 3.

  1. Approach from a straighter angle than the inside-foot shot
  2. Plant your standing foot alongside the ball
  3. Strike with the outside of your foot — top outside, wrapping the other direction
  4. Follow through down and across

Focus on: a firm ankle. The outside of the foot is a small surface — keep it locked.

“Firm ankle. Strike the outside. Let it bend.”
